Across the Jet Bridge

Love Poem

At Air Canada before the sun can rise,
He walks the ramp beneath gray skies.
She stands at gates with boarding tone,
A practiced smile, a voice well-known.

At Toronto Pearson International Airport’s silver sprawl,
They work two worlds within one wall.
He guides the tug, marshals the wing,
She calls the zones, makes final ring.

“Now boarding rows from back to front,”
Her echo travels, calm and blunt.
Out on the apron, engines start—
He feels the thunder in his heart.

He lifts the bags of lives in motion,
She smooths delays with steady devotion.
He battles snow and crosswind blast,
She reshuffles seats when storms roll past.

Their lunches cross the jet bridge span—
A thermos passed from glove to hand.
A quick embrace by Gate 104,
Then back to headset, ramp once more.

He watches pushback, proud and still.
She scans the list, confirms the fill.
Two wedding bands in fluorescent light,
Timed by departures day and night.

For some, the airport means goodbye.
For them, it’s where their futures lie.
Across the ramp, across the gate—
Two shifts, one love, one shared fate.
