THE BIRTH OF “JAWS”

(Or: How One Butt Bite Grounded a Safety Nazi Forever)

Gate 105. The scene of the crime.
Phil Lettieri, local ramp rat and aspiring nose wheel whisperer, was waiting on Flight 857, minding his own business and dreaming of seniority he’d never reach.

Enter: Rob Penyk, a.k.a. The Safety Nazi — a man so obsessed with rules, he duct-taped his own shoelaces just to avoid tripping over his authority.

As Phil was busy chocking the nose wheel (or “caulking,” depending on who’s doing the paperwork), Rob waddled in with the airstairs like a self-important penguin carrying ground power salvation.

He climbed up, ready to plug in the GPU. Phil, ever the helpful citizen, passed up the cord…

And then—KAPOW!

Rob’s butt was suddenly front and center. A full moon rising in broad daylight. A cheeky eclipse of personal space. Right in Phil’s face.

So what did Phil do?

He didn’t flinch. He didn’t retreat.
He bit.
Like a territorial schnauzer at a barbecue.
Right on the keister.

Rob let out a bloodcurdling scream that grounded a sparrow mid-flight.

Meanwhile, a gaggle of salesgirls watching from the terminal window lost it. They laughed so hard a coffee cart tipped over in Arrivals.

The next day, Rob limped back with a bruise the size of Pearson Terminal 1 and said:
“I showed my wife. She said I deserved it.”
True love.

And that was the last time Rob ever came to help.

But wait—it gets better.

Ramp Manager Jim Catney, always one for catchy branding, saw what happened and declared to Andy Garvin:
“Keep Jaws away from me.”

Thus, like a Marvel origin story gone horribly wrong—Jaws was born.
And he’s been biting butts and breaking boundaries ever since.
